Sister Marguerite Ledwell

IPSWICH-Sister Marguerite Ledwell, SND, 87, died on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Residence in Ipswich.

Sister Marguerite was born Alice Rose Ledwell on June 12, 1922 in Lynn, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Carroll) Ledwell.

Sister Marguerite entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur at Waltham on Aug. 4, 1940 and received her education at Emmanuel College in Boston.
During her 69 years of religious life, sister served many ministries, including in Cambridge, Hawaii, Peabody, Lynn, Beverly, Lowell, Ipswich and Japan

Sister is survived by her sister, Anna Pawlak of California; and by several nieces and nephews; as well as her many sisters of Notre Dame. She was the sister of the late Lillian Frances Page, Genevieve Ledwell, Dorothy Bruley, Fred and Martin and Marguerite Nunley.

ARRANGEMENTS: Sister Marguerite's Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at 3 p.m. at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Road, Ipswich, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend, and may pay their respects on Monday from 1 until 3 p.m., prior to the Mass. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey's Neck Road, Ipswich, MA 01938. Arrangements are by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, MA 01960.
